Delargo Towers Fuchsia Fest 2021

 Hello me dears. It's 2022 and 2021 is over. Its time for our annual Fuchsia Review.

Fuchsias always look fab and do so for such a long time, it is easy to take them a bit for granted. They often don't make it onto the blog as I try to show what has newly come into its season.

To make up for this every year we hold a 'Fuchsia Fest' here at 'Delargo Towers' to showcase our collection. This year we have a grand tally of 38 named varieties, with nine of those new to us in 2021. We will look at each Fuchsia in the collection in turn and in alphabetical order.

So with out any further ado, I declare the 'Delargo Towers Fuchsia Fest 2021'  well and truly open!

 2021: a rotten year for most of us, a poor year for the garden but the Fuchsias just got on with it and did their own thing

There is just time to remember absent friends, that is the two of our Fuchsias that didn't make it into 2021

The Delargo Gardens - December

 

Here we are me lovelies. It is bleak Mid Winter and I must admit there is not a lot to see in the garden.

We still have some colour but with overnight temperatures down to -5'c earlier in the month we have less colour this year than last.

 The Cobaea is struggling along. I thought this would be it's last flower but it has several new buds.

 The plucky little Pelargoniums are still jolly.

Only one of the three Cyclamen has flowered so far but we hope the other two will catch up.

 I have been amazed with the next plant. It has flowered non stop since late Spring and still is refusing to stop. Nicotiana Affinis is well worth growing just for the scent alone but it is also such a good doer.

 The salvias may not be at their best but they are still flowering.

There we are are then me dears and it's time to climb aboard the Sky Lark for the last tour of our extensive grounds for this year.

Roll on Spring.

The primulas will cheer us up till then but our violas have for the most part have given up the ghost and have shrivelled but the Snow Drops are already pushing up their leaves and readying themselves to announce the end of Winter and the approach of Spring.

I shall leave you with a Fuchsia, ('Holly's Beauty') as a taster for the up and coming 'Annual Delargo Towers Fuchsia Fest.' The workman are already busying themselves erecting the marquee and VIP Hospitality Tent.

The Delargo Gardens - November

 

Here we are then me dears. We have already had overnight temperatures of  -3'c but luckily nothing like the storms and snow of Scotland and the North.

Despite all of that we still have some colour in the garden. Last years Primulas are back in flower and spreading a bit of joy.

 The first of our three Cyclamen is back in flower too;

and with a bit of luck the plucky Pelargoniums will keep going into the Winter and beyond.

I love this Lilac / Lavender colour.

 All the salvias are still flowering but with all of the cold weather we have been having I am not sure for how much longer.

 

I imagine this month will be the last we see the Cobaea in flower.

 Geranium Rozanne seems to have no intention to stop flowering (ever).

 Ok me lovelies, grab your woolly hat and gloves it's all aboard the sky lark for a quick tour of the grounds

and finally a look at the wallflowers who will sit here all winter and patiently wait till the Spring. That is if the Foxes don't dig them all up again
