The Delargo Gardens - April

Here we are again then me darlins.

We've come to the end of a very disappointing and cold April. Everything is at least two weeks behind and we have had to crank up the boilers here at 'Delargo Towers' to keep us and the seedlings warm.

The Tulips don't mind it though and have looked fab all month

The main display is 25 + mixed bulbs crammed into one pot. They don't flower at the same time so that it creates an ever changing surprise of colour and shapes.

Tulip “Marquise de la Coquette” in the front window box

and the gorgeous Tulip Ronaldo

Mixed in with Narcissus Thalia

...and our wonderful Wallflowers have created a marvellous display

We were photo-bombed by a male Hairy-footed flower bee in this shot. They enjoy wallflowers even more than we do!

This is the overall effect and we love it. The smell is heavenly.

Osteospermum 'Blue Eyed Beauty' is looking very jolly in the Sunshine.

New for us and doing well is Phlox subulata “Fabulous Rose”.

Not new, but as it was buried up in the 'top field' we never got to see it, is Geranium phaeum “Samobor”. It is now potted up and sits in my wine time corner so that we can enjoy it.

That was the stars of the month but lets not forget the "supporting cast".

Perhaps it is due to the low temperatures but they are lasting very well this year and still going

All aboard the 'Sky Lark' (our name for a very old Land Rover, if we had one) me dears. It is time for a quick tour of the grounds.

Most of the Fuchsias are alive but very slow to get going. They have not liked the cold North winds at all.

The Dahlias are now potted on and will have to fend for themselves.

The Ricinus seedlings came up like Sycamore trees; unfortunately I have managed to scorch them and give them a chill at the same time so fingers crossed they will be OK.

Just coming into flower now and harbingers of May:

Bluebells up in the top field

Forget-Me-Nots in the newly planted East Border

 and Auriculas

There tiz then me lovelies till next time then

I will pop the kettle on when I see you coming.

Lets hope it warms up a bit soon.
