Delargo Towers annual Fuchsia Fest 2024.

Welcome my lovelies to the world famous 'Delargo Towers annual Fuchsia Fest' 2024

It is easy to take Fuchsias a bit for granted as they can be in flower from Spring to Autumn (In fact we have a some still in flower in January after the frost and snow). They often don't make it onto the blog so I highlight just one each month through the year.

To make up for my neglect, every year we hold a 'Fuchsia Fest' here at 'Delargo Towers' to showcase our collection. This year there is a grand tally of 53 named varieties so without further ado

I declare the 'Delargo Towers Fuchsia Fest of 2024 well and truly open!

  3. Thank you, this made my whole day! I never knew how much variety there was in fuschias. I've grown 'Magellanica' of course, but the hanging ornamentals when by the ways in favor of roses roses roses. I clearly missed out. 'Border Queen' and 'Rivendell' are glorious and elegant. "Caroline" is a showstopper. I have never seen a flower form like that in a fuschia and the color is just right! Do you belong to a fancy, or is there a specialty nursery you deal with? I am honestly WOWED.

    1. How very kind of you me dear. I am pleased that you are pleased and that you enjoyed our little collection.
It is amazing how varied Fuchsias can be, in colour, shape, size, habit and leaf. You picked out some of our favourites and yes Caroline is extra special.
They all come from a specialist Fuchsia nursery in Essex. We make an annual pilgrimage every year. It is Fuchsia heaven you would love it.

PS We love Roses too and wish we had a garden that we could grow loads and loads of them.

  4. Delightful as always, Madam A!

I made a few notes as I was taking the tour:
    "Ting-a-Ling" - so delicate, like a fairy
"Tennessee Waltz" - blousy. I love it!
Sorry, I couldn't have a fuchsia in the garden called "Shrimp Cocktail".
    "Preston Guild" is lovely.
"Millennium" is like "Blacky" but blousier!
Your photo of "Gay Senorita" is stunning!
    "Foolke": A perennial favourite.
I'd love a little red and white fuchsia like "Celia Smedley"

Even though I'm rather late, I'm pleased to find that there's still alittle something in the Moët & Chandon tent. Thank you.

    1. Always a delight to see you in the garden Mr De.
Gosh you have been attentive with your little black book and all. You have picked out some stunners and I can recommend "Celia Smedley". She is a very elegant lady.
I am also pleased that you approve of my venture into night time photography with "Gay Senorita".
I agree that "Shrimp Cocktail" is an unfortunate name but it is delightful
We also would like to assure you that there will always be Champagne on ice waiting for you whenever you come to see us at Delargo Towers.

    1. Hello my dear, lovely to see you in the garden again.
Thank you for your kind words. A lot of the fuchsias were still in flower a week or so ago but we have had a few nights of - 5'c temperatures so they are no more but we hope they all will come back next Spring
      Ttfn.
