The Delargo Gardens - March

Here we again me dears at the end of our second March in this incarnation of the 'Gardens of Delargo Towers'

A mild month on the whole but with a few frost and a couple of storms. The plastic greenhouse we bought back in 2014 blew over so many time it is now in a skip.

Safe indoors our cymbidium orchid decided to flower, This is only the second time it has done so in the 21 years that I have known this plant !

We have a few stunners in the garden too.

Chionodoxa forbesii

Tulipa humilis 'Persian Pearl'

Ipheion 'Jessie'

As well as our old reliables...

Anemone blanda

Eranthis hyemalis (Winter aconite):

Erysimum cheiri (Wallflower):

Hyacinth 'Royal Navy':

...along with the pansies

and of course Daffs

With almost everything in pots, there is a lot to do to prepare for the Spring proper and the log awaited Summer to come.

Not every thing is in pots, and this year we intend to work on what little bits of soil that we have.

As well as sowing seeds and buying the odd newbie or two.

A busy time ahead, methinks.
Roll on Spring.

The Delargo Gardens - February

Hello again me lovelies
We started February as one would expect with snow ice and bitter winds but we are ending it with way above average temperatures and a feeling of Spring in the air.

All very lovely but not typical of our garden this month.
We will be seeing more of them in the next post I'm sure.
Our 'star' for February has to be Cyclamen coum

Our primulas have been fab this Winter, the pansys ok and the violas rather disappointing.

We have made a start on tidying and clearing ready for the Spring to start properly

We are hoping to add to our fernery this year

There are rather a lot of planters waiting to be tarted up.

ready to be moved into the best positions to show the plants off.

It is rather like a gardening version of the game 'Tetris'

We are looking forward to seeing what the rest of our bulbs do in march.

and the first of this years seedlings ( hollyhocks ) are already up.

So there tiz then me dears.

Roll On Spring I say !
