Having just catalogued Cook Book 355 I though a Book post was in order.
#355; The Art of Home Cooking, by the Stork Margarine Cookery Service. This is a replacement for my mothers copy and is the what she used when she taught me to cook when I was just knee high. Published in 1954 it is actually older than me. I wonder if any of our chums remember it in their Mum's or Granny's kitchen drawer.
It joins #354 Court Favourites Recipes From Royal Kitchen by the wonderful Elizabeth Craig also published in 1954.

ooh, Thank you! I appreciate the opportunity to see old cookbook photos. They do hold a certain sense of nostalgia to them, don't they? I started accruing a cookbook collection, but we haven't got the space, so I got rid of the ones that are full of flags or notes. I was just helping my son make Fettecuine Alfredo for Father's Day dinner. It's his turn to cook on Sundays, but he's still a beginner unless its spaghetti.

DeleteHow lovely that your son gets to cook for you all on Sundays, We all have to start somewhere and it sounds like he is doing very well. The first book on the list is where I started to learn how to cook and I still love it.
I still have and use my mum's original Stork margarine book - I have the exact same copy!! Wonderful!

Oma erhielt das Stork-Kochbuch von der Frau eines britischen Soldaten, die Welt ist klein. :)
