The Delargo Gardens March

Hello my lovelies. March is very late this year, well the garden post is. St David's Day has been and gone and we are almost in the middle of April as I type this but all of the photos were taken in March.

St. David's Day was on the 1st March

Wishing a belated Dydd Gŵyl Dewi Hapus to all.

Daffodil and Tulip Lasagne; one slowly gives way to the other. 2 displays in 1 pot. In April it will just be Tulips.

these are two of my favourite Spring plants. Above is not a Dandelion it's Doronicum (Leopard's-bane) Below is not Forget-me-nots (Myosotis) but the wonderful Brunnera macrophylla 'Jack Frost'. When the flowers are over you get amazing silver foliage right through the Summer and then next year it's back again. Fabulous

March was jolly and colourful in the garden and we moved into Spring with out a frost.

Now then me dears tiz time for a tour of our vast Estate.

We rarely show much of the front gardens so to make amends here is the fabulous cherry tree down the road.

and some very sweet Narcissus on our window sills.

I think that the cymbidium has decided to flower for ever.

There tiz me dears, Donny has almost forgiven me for being so late but he is still annoyed that I didn't manage to take one single photo of a Fuchsia for the entire month of March despite having a good few in bloom.

I will make up for it in April ready for your next visit but till it's -

Ttfn from Donny

and Ttfn from me

Toodle Pip.

  1. My favorite time of the year!!!!!! Looks like the yellows and red reigned supreme!!! Things are really blooming here weekly. Different stars of the show every other week it seems. The bulbs of all sorted here are exploding.

    1. It is a wonderful time in the garden.
I have fallen so behind in blogger wonderland and have a lot of catching up to do. The Vernal joys of Casa Borghese are of course first on the list. I am such a fan of your Mood Boards and can imagine a few bulbs popping up in one or two of those.

    1. How kind but they are just snaps. It's lovely to share the garden with anyone that fancies it. I show the garden as it is worts and all and love it.

  3. You have a lovely selection of daffs - and aren't some of them TALL! I love your 'lasagne', too! And you can't beat cherry blossom against a blue sky.

I am very pleased to see such healthy looking young foxgloves down your back passage. I'm hoping to have a good display this year - including some not so well known ones like lanata and laevigata as well as my established parvifloras.
Do I spy sprouting Eucomis bulbs, too?

Our Eucomis have struggled but I hope that they do better this year.

  4. Beautiful! I spotted a fresh bloom of Daffs the other day along the roadside - they must have been a late variety as all the March ones are long gone now.
We have primroses and all sorts going on in our hedge banks, it truly is a hopeful time of year.

    1. There can be few sights in the world more beautiful than a Devonshire hedgerow laced with primroses or indeed a Devonshire Bluebell wood for that matter.
