"You were marvellous! And I never want to see any of you again."
ReplyDeleteExcept maybe for the last Matador who seems to have forgotten his Taleguilla.
Oh I do love a nice taleguilla.
DeleteReminds me of an anecdote from the wonderful April Ashley's memoir [that I featured in my own Museum of Camp here], of her time in Spain, when she happened to be in Seville with Peter O'Toole [as you do] while he was filming Lawrence of Arabia:
ReplyDelete"I was introduced to Peter's stand-in, John Fulton Short. All the stand-in does is get lit because he is of a physical type similar to the star's. But John was a personality in his own right, being the first American to achieve full matador status... John explained why in the ring bullfighters do not wear underpants. Since the male genitalia are substantially composed of gristle, there is in the event of being gored a greater chance of those vitals sliding aside undamaged if they are unconfined."
So, if ever that question ever comes up in a pub quiz, we have April Ashley to thank for the answer!
Jx
We have a lot to thank April Ashley for.
DeleteThat bottom one would make a nice shelf 😁.

Patsy: "Buns so tight he was bouncing off the walls"
DeleteTraje de luces :)
ReplyDeleteDie Matadore sind in ihren Tradition einzigartig.
Ich liebe es, Spanien wegen der Strände und der Stierkämpfe zu besuchen.

And that is what I like not the killing of the bull.
DeleteI do not like Bull Fighting due to the Animal Abuse, but, that last Matador could dress like that all day long for me.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree on all counts.
