from Santa's Sack

I was over the moon with what Santa Jon pulled out of his sack this morning.

Wow. 'Cooking Price-Wise A Culinary Legacy' - Expanded, Special edition 2017.

Who knew that it was Vincent Price's grand-father that invented Baking powder !

In 1971 Vincent Price was asked to do a cookery programme for ITV. It was short lived and I have no memory of it and indeed only a few clips of it have survived.

His daughter Victoria put this book together with added family memories and recipes.

I knew this dish as carbonnade de bœuf and have always (dispute the French name) thought this to be a classic British dish but it is actually Belgian. Where ever it is from it's a personal fave of mine.

When I was a baby chef Stuffed Peppers were as exotic as exotic got.

Vincent Price was a ' Foodie' before the term existed and a passionate cook and I very pleased to have his book

This is cookery book number 339. I think we have room for a least one more to make it a nice even number.

The Delargo Gardens - December

Here we are then me darlins in December with the last look at the vast expansive Gardens here at Delargo Towers for 2025.

It's damp and cold but we still have flowers. With a Robin singing and a sudden flash of green from our resident flock of Parakeets, the garden is still a nice place to sit in with a warm coat and a glass of wine.

Thank heavens for Salvias. They are a Joy at the moment and the one above is appropriately called 'Joy'

Not bad for December methinks. Now then me lovelies I hope you have brought your Wellington Boots cuz it's time to jump up into the Land Rover for a tour of our vast estate.

Before we head of to the VIP hospitality suite for a well deserved hot toddy we have time remind you of the up and coming Christmas / New Year Specials.

Not only the long awaited 'Delargo Towers Fuchsia Fest' - this is Fuchsia Tennessee Waltz

There is also Donny's  'A Year on one page' special to look forward to.

There tiz then me dears. That's it for 2025. Roll on Spring

Till we see you next time in the garden

It's Ttfn from Donny and

Ttfn from me

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

Spotted Dick Ken ?

It is the 65th anniversary of the iconic British cultural institution that is Coronation Street!

My better half has already posted this momentous event Clickhere to view and I thought it would be jolly to put my spin on it.

Oh yes! it's the cookery book,

Oh my Gawd I love a hotpot when it is done properly. Lets see what was going on in the rest of the street

or we could pop over to Rita

Now we are off to visit Alf. He sells the best cuts and serves the other which is fine unless its Tripe or intestines

Well moving quickly on we will end our culinary fest by popping over the street to see Mike and Alma and get a bit of Southern Flavour.

and Lets be honest; who doesn't like a bit of Spotted Dick !

With one look I can break your heart
With one look I play every part
I can make your sad heart sing

With one look they'll forgive the past
They'll rejoice I've returned at last
To my people in the dark
Still out there in the dark...
