Here we are me dears and I'm sorry to keep you waiting for the gates open. We are well and truly into Autumn but while other plants are dying back the salvias don't seem to mind
This a new addition to the garden Salvia involucrata and we love it.
If Amistad is the king of salvias then this is the Drag Queen of salvias.
Salvia Rockin Fuchsia
Salvia patens 'Patio Deep Blue'
Salvia 'Mirage Cherry Red'
Salvia 'Nachtvlinder'
Salvia Uliginosa
Salvia Love and Wishes
Salvia Salgoon Lake Blueberry
Salvia greggii Joy
Salvia Ember's Wish
Salvia guarantica Amante
Salvia African Sky
That's most of the salvias covered but we do have more (yes we can get obsessive about plants).
Now it's time to jump into the Land Rover for a tour of the rest of our vast estate
after that bumpy ride you deserve a rest and some refreshment. this is the view from our VIP hospitality Lounge
The Summer Bedding is still going.
And we have the first harbinger of Spring even if Winter has not started yet. Our lovely Polyanthus which we been trying to keep going from last year have decided to flower.
We are getting ever closer to the long awaited Fuchsia Fest. This month sneak preview is a double whammy Fuchsia Glitters with Fuchsia triphylla 'Thalia' behind.
Donny doesn't like this time of year when the garden starts to die back going into Winter. In fact he has not moved since last month. The Mexican Flea Bane has started to grow around him but I know that he has been going through the seed catalogues and planning next year.
There tiz then me darlins. We hope to see you back in the garden next month
Till then It's TTFN from Donny
and TTFN from me

Salvias and Fuchsias - the saviours of this late point of the year. It's their cheerful efforts that hold the "Season of Death" at bay... Jx
ReplyDeletethey are a joy.
DeleteI quite agree with Jon - your Salvias (and Fuchsias) really are putting on quite a show. I find myself particularly drawn to the more delicate Salvias like "Amethyst Lips" and "Nachtvlinder" - I must seek some out for the Hexenhäusli Device Gardens next year (I'm not sure why we don't already have some?).
ReplyDeleteYour Wine Time Corner is still looking inviting (Donny seems happily ensconced therein) and I have availed myself of a snout down your Back Passage - are your houseplants still out, or have they retired indoors?
The poor darlings have no idea of the Winter that is coming and will grow and flower until the frost hits.
DeleteThe house plants will come in soon except for the Spider plants that have been outside every Winter for a decade; come what may.
Y'all are my container gardening inspiration, sweetpea! Here in So. California, I grew up with fuchsias growing wildly all around our house, so I never saw them containerized. We going for low water gardening here, so I need to check out their needs if grown in a pot. I'm hoping that we'll have something to show re: spring bulbs in pots next year! xoxo
ReplyDeleteOur gardening philosophy is - give it a go and if it doesn’t work try something else.
DeleteSpring bulbs in pots are fool proof and I am sure you will have a fabulous show.
Magischer Hausgarten :)
ReplyDeleteDu kümmerst dich gut darum und Donny beschützt es.

Lovely to see you in the garden again.
DeleteDonny has been a bit lazy lately just look at all of those fallen leaves.
Having said that he is a 112 so we must make some allowances.
He sends his love and I hope to see you back in the garden next month.

You have two more waves of blossoms coming- in November! Tip o' the hat.
ReplyDeleteI would love to spend an afternoon roaming around the Estate, a magnifying glass in one hand, a beer in the other...
We would love just to sit in the garden with you, glass in hand just chewing the fat. Your garden or ours or both .
