Here we are me darlins at the start of 2025.
As I am sure you can imagine, there is not a lot to see this month but we do have some flower.
Cyclamen is looking fab and giving us the best hit of colour
Less showy but just as fab is the Sarcococca hookeriana var. digyna 'Purple Stem'
the scent from this is amazing.
winter pansies are amazing this time of year
We have just been down to - 5'c. Not only were they unscathed (zoom in), they now have greenfly.
Battered but unbowed.
Last years primulas have shrugged of the frost and are dong their best to flower for us.
The Daffs ( Tete a tete) are getting ready for next month
Donny is looking after the crocus which should come into flower soon
Lovely to see you in the garden and we hope to see you again next month but till then -
It's Ttfn from Donny
and
Ttfn from me
Ttfn.
Hard to imagine any flowers in winter. Here we have nothing after the snow and deep freeze were in. Love the Cyclamen. Someone for Christmas at work gifted me one for the holiday. I may research and see if it can be planted in the garden or keep it potted.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh me darlin you are quick of the block.Lovely to see you as always.
DeleteThere are several types of Cyclamen, this is the florist one; Cyclamen persicum and is hardy down to -5'c.
I feel like the garden's in shock after that cold snap - but certain plucky plants still just brush it off and keep the flower going... Jx
ReplyDeletePS Maddie - some cyclamen are completely hardy, but some are purely ornamental and need winter protection. From experience, a good way to judge is: the smaller and less showy the flowers, the hardier they seem to be.
I am in shock after that cold snap; we live in London not the Outer Hebrides.
