Here we is me dears. February is over but the Winter definitely is not. February is known as the 'cruellest month' and has been living up to its reputation this year.
Having said that we have a bit more in flower this month and some brave things are starting to sprout and shoot
A couple of years ago himself and I had a lovely visit to the wonderful Beth Chatto Gardens in Essex and fell in love with this plant Doronicum orientale 'Leonardo' (Leopard's Bane).
It was growing in the woodland area and was just a joy. We managed to get hold of one last year. It held its flower buds through -8C temperatures, opened as soon as the frost passed and has been in flower all month.
The Crocuses are out
They looked very jolly in what sunshine we had.
The Daffs just started to flower at the end of the month. Much later than last year.
Daffodil Tête à tête.
We have started shopping to give the garden a boost of colour and this pretty little Campanula is certainly colourful.
The old stalwarts are still going strong, the Sarcococca hookeriana var. digyna “Purple Stem” is now starting to go over but...
...the scent is lovely and it's still attracting the first brave bees.
Cyclamen coum is doing very well this year and is just a delight.
That's it then me lovelies; it's time to climb up into the Land-Rover and begin the grand tour of the rather chilly Delargo Estate.
Our Cymbidium Orchid is still in flower. No photos this month as it looks exactly the same as last month - fabulous.
Donny says roll on April. and hopes to see you next month
Till then it's Ttfn from him and Ttfn from me.

Toodle-Loo and Pip pip.
It has been remarkable how - despite wind, rain, frost and sleet - any bees that dare to venture out gravitate towards our garden. No matter the season, they know they'll get a feed.
ReplyDeleteRoll on Spring, indeed! Jx
A garden without bees would be sad place indeed and yes we do make sure that they there is food for them all year round.
DeleteLovely! My two favorite colors...purple and yellow, both so full of cheer. Here, as warm as it's been is still pretty dead and brown, the only flowers to be seen are crocus, daffs and grape hyacinth.
ReplyDeleteStrong colour combinations work well in the Spring and your crocus, daffs and grape hyacinth must be a joy.
DeleteI just wish it would warm up a bit here, I am so fed up with being cold.
Signs of Spring, thank goodness! I saw a Bumble Bee yesterday - I read that they only fly when the temperature is over 10° - so we are warming up!
ReplyDeleteOur Daffs are out, and the Tulips are on the way.
Sx
We had a Black Bumble feeding on the Cyclamen the other day so Spring is on the way I just wish it would hurry up.
DeleteCan't wait for the tulips to flower, just love um'.
