The Delargo Gardens - February

Here we are again me dears with the February garden. I must admit that I am rather late as usual.

I ended the last post saying "Feb looks like it might be rather Fab" to which the lovely Ms Scarlet replied "Yes, if you're a duck." as it turned out we were both correct ! We have just had the wettest February on record but at least it has been very mild and our bulbs are looking fab in all their pre Spring glory

Narcissus Tete a Tete looking very jolly on our kitchen window sill.

Primulas have given us colour all Winter and are still going strong

as are both types of Cyclamen

We planted a whole variety of bulbs last Autumn and they are starting to repay us with dividends

Anemone blanda

Dwarf Iris

Dwarf Crocus, rather disappointing so far.

and last year's Ipheion uniflorum to which we have added new stock

All bodes well for Spring proper next month

Spring bulbs and last years plants sheltering from the cold, wind and rain.

Hopefully next door will repair their fence before the next post

Herbaceous and perennials are waking up from their Winter sleep.

My little spot. Looking a bit scruffy now but not for long me hopes.

There tiz then, me lovelies.
Winter may not be over yet but Spring is very much on the way and I can feel it in me bones

Do pop back next month and see how things are doing
Till then, then,

The Delargo Gardens - January

Here we are then me lovelies in 2020
And gosh what a very mild month it has been too
our old stalwarts are still giving us some colour

and the cyclamen are doing their stuff

as our our primulas
Now I do always say there are no colour clashes in spring
just as well we have an elegant little snow drop to tone it down.
2020 but actually not a lot has changed since the end of 2019
The herbaceous in the pots are showing signs of growth.
I love watching them sprout, getting themselves ready for the Summer
our more tender plants are still in hiding in case we get a cold snap
and if there is a little sun we still have a place so sit and wait for the wallflowers to flower
the fernary is looking lovely
and we have a couple of newbies
to join them
All in all me darlins it has been a dull month
But with  crocus and daffodils about to put on a show
Feb looks like it might be rather Fab
So please drop into our back yard and have a look.
Till then me dears,

The Delargo Gardens - December

Well me lovelies that is the end of December, the end of 2019 and the end of the decade

2019 was a year of extremes, with Highs and lows often in the same month

The salvias have all but finished They still have some colour but not worth a photo.

The fuchsias however refuse to stop flowering

as do the odd pelargonium or two

Apart from the few survivors from Summer the Winter blooms proper are stating to look good

The garden looks much like it did in November but with less fallen leaves.

When last years Polyanthus finished we stuck them in the scrappy bit of soil at the top of the garden. They are all flowering away and look very Jolly

 Last month, dinahmow
commented on struggling with ferocious winds, well me dears next doors fence has taken a battering this month.

There tiz then me darlins
Happy New Year
and I hope you all pop back into our back yard in 2020
