I am enjoying this 4 photo game. Here are four more. This time taken at random from the photographic archives of the Delargo Foundation Trust.
Cristóbal Balenciaga
Mick Jagger as the cabaret drag performer ‘Greta’
The poet Lorca and Salvador Dalí
I have no idea what this is or from but isn’t just über jolly? I want to go to parties like that.
PS
It could be from the original film of Moulin Rouge but that is just a guess.
Ttfn.
I can't imagine why you were "strangely drawn" to these, dear?!
ReplyDeleteBoth Federico García Lorca and Cristóbal Balenciaga were really quite cute when they were young, weren't they? As was Mick Jagger - but not in that photo. As for James Robertson Justice in a tutu - bugger only knows!
Jx
OMG James Robertson Justice.
DeleteAnd here I thought that second picture was you and drag? And of course that last picture could easily be your gang at one of your events
ReplyDeleteI take both comments as compliments.
DeleteI don't think I would make the grade for RuPaul's Drag Race but we certainly now how to party.
Great photos, sweetpea! I think this is the first time I've seen a photo of a young Balenciaga! I have to agree re: Lorca and Dali in their youth! xoxo
ReplyDeleteBalenciaga just exudes style and sophistication in that photo.
DeleteA fine set of calves in the lower picture! Great collection.
ReplyDeleteSx
You have something in common with Queen Elizabeth the first. She enjoyed a well turned calf too. I can't say it is a part of a man's body I have paid much attention to before. I shall pay them more attention in the future
DeleteCristóbal Balenciaga looks like he's just spotted an annyoing child entering the room. Or 'Greta'.
ReplyDeleteI love the final photo! They look so at ease. Like, "why wouldn't we wear tutus to a formal do?"
It takes a Real Man to wear a tutu to a formal do as if it was the most ordinary choice of attire .
DeleteThe very essence of Camp at it's purest.
I echo Mr Device's tutu comment!
ReplyDeleteOk but don't mention Greta!
DeleteI think we should have a Tutu party and everyone is invited.
Top Hats optional.
My curiosity led me to Google's "images" and it seems to be from Moulin Rouge, 1952, in which he played Lord Scrumptious.
ReplyDeleteJames Robertson Justice wasn't in Moulin Rouge. He played "Lord Scrumptious" in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. I don't remember him in a tutu in that! Jx
DeleteSuch a shame James Robertson Justice wasn't in the original Moulin Rouge he would have been amazing but then again he was amazing as "Lord Scrumptious" alongside Anna Quayle as Baroness Bomburst in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
DeleteOh dear I have mixed up his role with Gert Fröbe who was Baron bomburst but he never wore a Tutu either to the best of my knowledge.
DeleteThe man in the last photo, it appears he’s describing the bodacious ass of Nijinsky.
ReplyDelete:-)
I would find it hard to believe that Nijinsky was unaccustomed to wearing a Tutu from time to time.
DeleteSo fun! We have a Salvador Dali reprint hanging in our entryway so those who come to the door can mistake us for having some class. LOL! The last picture is "Business up top, party down below." ;)
ReplyDeleteI will take the Party down Below !
