The Delargo Gardens - November

Here we are again me dears with a very chilly visit to the Delargo Towers Gardens. November is the most miserable damp and scruffy month in the garden but at leat we had the I N F O M A N I A C Garden Photos Event. (click to view) to cheer, entertain and edify us.

At the begining of the month we also had next doors American Black Walnut tree turn into its golden Autumn colour.

Salvia Uliginosa

Salvia 'Amistad'

Salvia 'Embers Wish'

Salvia 'Love and Wishes'

Salvia x guaranitica “Rockin' Fuchsia”

Salvia greggi “Mirage Cherry Red”

I am amazed that Black-Eyed Susan - Thunbergia Alata is still flowering but not for much longer methinks

This sweet little Campanula refuses to stop too.

And

'Non Stop Begonias' are just that - non stop!

There tiz then, me dears. Now, Sadly due to technical issues the planned Balloon trip has had to be cancelled so instead let's jump into the Land Rover for a tour of the rest of our vast grounds. Hope yo've got your thermals on.

I hope you enjoyed the tour and your hot toddy in the hospitality suite afterwards. Now that we are back in the main garden, I thought you might like an update on the Taro.

and the lovely metallic colour on the dead flowers of Hydrangea macrophylla Black Stem Blue

We are over the moon that we have not lost our Cordyline.

There is just time before we go for a sneak preview of the New Year Fuchsia Fest - Fuchsia 'Sheila Crooks', new to us last Spring she has been trained as a full standard.

Donny and I hope to see you back in the garden next month

But till then It's Ttfn from Donny

and it's Ttfn from me

  2. The salvias really are the stalwarts of your garden, aren't they. Well, and the fuchsias, of course - just look at the riot of colour up your side return!

I'm disappointed that there's no balloon trip, but I imagine it's to be expected if Jon insists on letting these two muck around with it!

P.S. I'm very happy to see the shoots on your cordyline.

    1. I can't imagine a garden without them. I love the way that while other plants are flowering the hearts out Mid Summer they just wait till they have finished and then take centre stage. Sorry about the Balloon.

  3. Your garden look like ours , but this looks like 4 weeks ago for us. Since we've had temps in the 20's now at night, it wiped out the salvias, roses and even choked out the pansies. Even the trees are now baron of jewel tones. It is now a trimmed back , level, baron nothing. That said, it is now to rocket back into the high 50's and dare say, 60 one day this week!

    Enjoy the last croaks.

  4. Just wonderful as always. You must really live in a Mediterranean climate, or at least you have the Southern Exposure Of The Gods. The cordyline really astounds me - here it would have turned toes around late October; let alone the begonias in bloom?! One thing I love about your plants is you seem to select for colorful stems/dark stems, which is such a sophisticated look OMG. XOO!

    1. Lovely to see you in the garden and thank you. We have now had our first frosts and I doubt the December post will be as colourful but we should have something to show.
