Here we are then me lovelies ready for our visit to the July garden.
July has been Bloomin Marvellous and if June was the month for Roses, July is the month for Lilies.
This is ' On Stage', it certainly lives up to it's name and the flower spike is taller than me.
Lilium speciosum var. rubrum
Lilium orientalis “Stargazer”
Plox have been a mainstay of the borders here at Delargo Towers for a long time now. Last year bought a blue form but were very disappointed with it. This year we bought another; Phlox paniculata “Blue Paradise”
It's much better blue and goes well with our Phlox subulata “Fabulous Rose”
The Salvias are starting to hit their stride this month - Salvia nemerosa “Rose Marvel”
Salvia verticillata “Purple Rain”
Salvia “Rockin' Fuchsia”
Salvia 'Amistad'
New in the garden this Summer; Salvia 'Kisses & Wishes'. They are all a joy and should be even better next month
We were a bit half hearted with seed sowing this year but Ipomoea tricolor (Morning Glory) “Kniola's Black” is still giving us a splash of colour.
We adore this jolly little Eucomis zambesiaca “White Dwarf”
We
also have been fortunate enough to have had a specimen of Eucomis
comosa “Sparkling Burgundy” gifted to the gardens from the collection of
the venerable 'DeVice Foundation'. We are happy to report that it is
thriving, and though too young to flower this year, we have our fingers
crossed for next.
We are very pleased with how Clematis “Comtesse de Bouchaud” fits in with the other plants, I was worried that it might jar a bit but it blends in beautifully.
I am in awe over just how many blooms Hemerocallis 'Crimson Pirate' has given us. It started flowering last month and continued up to the end of July
Lobelia speciosa “Fan Burgundy”
I don't know why we never grew Agapanthus before but we wouldn't be without them now - Agapanthus “Charlotte”
and this is “Stockholm”. It is a lovely pale, pale blue but the colour is a bit off in this photo.
As you know we lost all of our old Dahlias last Winter but are very happy with their replacements - Dahlia “Fascination”
and Dahlia “Happy Days Yellow”
The latter brings us onto the news of a new stopping point on the tour of the estate. You will now be given the opportunity to wander through the newly opened 'Hot Borders' here at Delargo Towers.
So lets climb into the Land Rovers and go and explore.
the last photo is a sneak preview of the annual 'Fuchsia Fest' in the New Year - Italiano
There tiz then me dears.
Till next time I see you in the garden.
Ttfn.
