The Delargo Gardens - April

Here we are then me lovelies back in the garden to have a look to see what April had to offer us. It was rather chilly and rather cloudy for the most part but the Spring Bulbs made up for the lack of sunshine.

We love our 'Wallflowers' here at Delargo Towers and traditionally display them alongside  Narcissus 'Thalia' and Tulip 'Ronaldo' neither were available anywhere last Autumn, not for love nor money. We substituted them for; Narcissus 'Starlight Sensation' and Tulip 'Paul Scherer'. The result was spectacular and the scent would blow your socks of me dears.

Spring would not be Spring with out an abundance of Tulips. At the time of planting we had a very large clay pot free. As an experiment I crammed 100 tulip bulbs into it to see what would happen.

Stage 1
Stage 2

Stage 3
I wanted abundance and we got it by the bucket full !

The lily of the Valley I grow in remembrance of my mother, has flowered well and is starting to form a nice clump.

As the evil 'Weed Trees' spread and surround the garden we are finding woodland and shade tolerant plants more and more useful, our 'Geranium phaeum “Samobor' has put on a wonderful show.

As has our new 'Mimulus'

Also new this month 'New Guinea Impatiens'. They are already look fab.

To our great joy last years seedling of Aquilegia ( Chrysantha ; I think ) Have come into flower and should be stunning next month.

Phlox subulata “Fabulous Rose” is still going strong

 as are the 'Osteospermums'

and Doronicum Orientale 'Leonardo'  -

There we are are then be Darlins. Tiz now time to climb aboard the miniature steam railway for a tour of our vast estate.

Hope you enjoyed that me dears. We still have just enough time for a little visit to the 'Fernery and Stumpery'. It does tend to get slightly over looked but the ever lovely Mr DeVice noticed and commented on them last month so I thought they should be included in this.

There we are then me lovelies. I will catch up with you in the VIP Champagne Tent after your Stroll through the Bluebell Woods

I hope you have enjoyed your day at Delargo Towers and I hope to see you back in the gardens in May
