from Santa's Sack

I was over the moon with what Santa Jon pulled out of his sack this morning.

Wow. 'Cooking Price-Wise A Culinary Legacy' - Expanded, Special edition 2017.

Who knew that it was Vincent Price's grand-father that invented Baking powder !

In 1971 Vincent Price was asked to do a cookery programme for ITV. It was short lived and I have no memory of it and indeed only a few clips of it have survived.

His daughter Victoria put this book together with added family memories and recipes.

I knew this dish as carbonnade de bœuf and have always (dispute the French name) thought this to be a classic British dish but it is actually Belgian. Where ever it is from it's a personal fave of mine.

When I was a baby chef Stuffed Peppers were as exotic as exotic got.

Vincent Price was a ' Foodie' before the term existed and a passionate cook and I very pleased to have his book

This is cookery book number 339. I think we have room for a least one more to make it a nice even number.

  1. Vincent Price was so talented in many ways as an actor, raconteur, art collector and gourmet cook. He donated his art collection to East Los Angeles College, and the college has since built the Vincent Price Art Museum on their campus in the city of Monterey Park. A great cook, Price and his second wife Mary Grant co-authored several cookbooks in the 1960’s.
