The Delargo Gardens - March

Well me Dears, as you know I have been late in opening the garden gates before but never this late. I am so sorry and thank you for your patience.

March was kind to us this year.... but I have kept you waiting for to long so with out further ado lets see what the gardens of 'Delargo Towers' have to offer.

March is all about Daffodils.

and we have them in droves.

They are all Narcissus 'Tête á Tête'

They work well for us. They don't flop and come back strongly every year.

Mixed with crocus the effect was joyous.

Our snow drops our slowly building into a reasonable clump.

More crocus - You can never have to many.

onto our specials. We have had both of the following in pots for a few years now. They may well be running out of steam but are still a joy.

'Chionodoxa' above and below and our adored 'Ipheion'

Osteospermum are always a delight to me and always flower surprisingly early.

Here we go then me darlins, All aboard the 'Sky Lark' for a quick tour of our vast grounds on the Delaro narrow-gauge railway. ( no step access is at the rear of the train )

There Tiz then me Darlins.

I promise not to keep you waiting next time. We have taken on extra staff to cope with the Easter rush when we open to the paying public. You of course have your Vip Ticket.

till then it's

    1. March was lovely and all the portering we have done to clear and tidy up the garden is now paying dividends.

  2. Those crocus's really give the daffs a bit of a pop don't they?! All so pretty.
I like this time of year [mid April] as the trees have started to flush - one minute they're in bud, the next they are in full leaf. Every year I mean to take daily photos of this happening, and I'm always too late!

    1. Thank you Ms Scarlet. We had always planted the 'Tête á Tête' and crocus separately but they do look so much better together don't they. I love the fact that in Spring there is no such thing as a colour clash, the bolder and brighter the better I say.

  3. Hooray! The Delargo Gardens are open at last! Your pot of daffs and crocuses is beautiful - joyous, indeed.
I see you have a little violet growing near your snowdrops, and a very impressive (and tidy) cluster of fern crowns next to your daffs-n-crocuses.

    1. Hello Mr D. You are as eagle eyed as always. I am so pleased you noticed the little wild Violets they have popped up all over the place completely by themselves. They are lovely but unfortunately every photo I tried to take was not. We have a good collection of ferns all trimmed and fed. They are now starting to unfurl their crosier like new leaves which is a great joy to watch.
Always lovely to see you in the garden, I plan to pop in and have a tour of yours latter to see how your little Cobaea is getting on
